“'A woman of seven and twenty,’ said Marianne, after pausing a moment, 'can never hope to feel or inspire affection again.’”
Sense & Sensibility, volume 1, chapter 8
Thank goodness Jane did not believe this!

Argh! back when I started blogging, my e-mail signature was: "I wish nature had made such hearts as yours more common, but I have lived three-and-twenty years in the world, and have seen none like it." from Persuasion
Now I'm almost 27 myself - guess I better change it to this one! At least it will be tongue-in-cheek... Plus I can console myself that I'm not yet old and decrepit like that 35-yr-old Col. Brandon!
Thanks for the daily dose of Jane! I like the running themes you've beeen doing.

I recall saying such statements when I was 27. In fact, a friend of mine told me my face would show a lot of character when I got old (he meant 35).
I am now an ancient crone by comparison.

I thoroughly enjoyed S&S last night. I can't think of a better way to spend a cold Sunday night.
